Frequently Asked Question!

There are always common questions that will pop up and we will do our best to answer them here. The only stupid question, is the one not asked.

General

Q. I am confused by some rule, policy or other direction, what do I do?

A.You contact staff, either through the +request or @mail system, with your question and we shall do the best to assist you. If a staffer is online Pages are also acceptable if not slightly less reliable. We may be busy and lose your page in the backscroll. Please, please contact us if you're confused or uncomfortable. We swear you're not bothering us and we don't bite.

Q. I am uncomfortable or require mediation between myself and another player, what do I do?

A.Valerian and Cereus are specifically dedicated to mediation and player relations. If you are for some reason uncomfortable with either of them you may take your concerns to Mandrake, Heliotrope or Dahlia. If you are uncomfortable we want to get you back to being safe and having fun as soon as possible, please don't hesitate to ask for assistance.

Q. A staffer is making me uncomfortable, what do I do?

A.The staff of Elua's Precept works together to hold one another to a high standard. For us, it is a matter of respect between one another. If another staffer is making you uncomfortable, or you feel as though they are being unfair, by all means please take your concerns to another staffer. As mentioned above Valerian and Cereus are specifically dedicated to handling these sorts of situations, but if you are uncomfortable with either of them by all means, take your concerns to another staffer. We will do our best to work out some kind of resolution. If negotiations fail for whatever reason you may request that that staffer leave you alone and that someone else handle your various jobs, though we sincerely hope it doesn't come to that.

Game

Q. I found a bug in the game, what do I do?
A. Awesome! You found a bug and now we can try to fix it. Here's what we need from you when you do. Send in a +request with the following:

  • 1. Exactly what you typed
  • 2. What happened afterwards, esp. the part that was unexpected
  • 3. Any error message that came up, in full, if applicable. Without these, we probably can't fix it and others will be affected.

Q. I want to be the King/Queen. Can I make that happen?
A. Hell yeah! Remember that part about how anyone can rise or fall? Through hard work and sheer determination plus some luck, you actually could rise to become the King/Queen of Terre d'Ange. But then you'll be handing over the character to staff as it will become an NPC. Also, any family and relevant individuals be they player or not, becomes NPC's as is the rule on our game. The royal family will always be NPC's. But, you'll be consulted when we have a question as to how the character would handle things and do our best to have s/he live up to the standards that you set. As well, you'll get bragging rights to your accomplishment and perhaps, more than likely, some extra XP tossed your way after chargen completion of your replacement character as a thank you for your sacrifice. It's good to be the King/Queen.

Wiki

Q. Can I make my wiki page while I'm waiting for my app to be approved?
A. Honestly, we'd rather you wait. What if the concept or character isn't approved? We know the agony of having to wait and wanting something to do, but you will need to wait. Once your character is approved, a password will be @mailed to you so you can join the wiki and then you can make your characters. It's worth the wait.

Character Generation

Q. How many characters am I allowed?
A. At this moment, you are only allowed 5 characters. Of those five, only one can be a feature character. This means you can have four regular characters and one feature, or you can have all five be original characters.

Q. Why do I have to audition for a Feature Character?
A. Feature characters are pre-generated or Original Concept characters of significant importance on the game. Pre-generated characters have a page with their general behavior and personality. If you take a hard assed Duc with a penchant for being very unforgiving with his vassals and play him as one who's handing out flowers to everyone, then you're not playing him appropriately and we're going to have a problem. Original Concept characters taking up an important position, need to be vetted to ensure that they know what their role expectations are and that they have a clear understand of the expectations of the role. Like a Dowayne of a House, who doesn't involve herself in the managing of the house, training Novices or interacting with other Dowaynes.

Or perchance, someone already played the character and for the sake of continuity, we need to ensure that you can play within the same general behavior with some forgiveness regarding style and transition. So we require an audition. You have to have been playing the game for 3 months as well before you may audition for a feature character. These rules are in place to reduce the chance of a revolving door of characters in a specific position and provide stability for the game and it's collective story.
